Polymer Lab

The Polymer Lab is used for injection molding and thermo/vacuum forming of thermoplastic materials in connection with teaching, research and project work.

The laboratory has, among other things, equipment for injection molding, granulation and drying of thermoplastics.

Laboratory Safety and Rules of Conduct

Laboratory Safety:

  • For potentially hazardous experiments, contact the laboratory administrator for a safety review.

  • All personal injuries must be reported in writing to the laboratory administrator.

  • Ensure you have received appropriate training and approvals before operating any equipment.

  • Ask the staff if you are uncertain about anything.

Rules of conduct: 

  • If you break something, stay calm. Notify the staff so we can repair or replace it.

  • Inform the staff of any malfunctions.

  • Tools and materials must remain in the Polymer Lab at all times.

  • If you use a piece of equipment, you are responsible for its condition and the associated work area.

  • Clean up after yourself.

  • Food and drink are not permitted in the laboratory.

Access and admission requirements

To gain access to the laboratory, students must complete an introductory course on equipment use.

The laboratory can only be accessed by students or others who have been granted specific permission. 

It is open all hours for those with access.
