Profile

I am an Associate Professor in Epidemiology with a particular interest in women’s health and endometriosis. My research draws mainly on national health registers and large cohort studies and focuses on the causes, diagnosis, and consequences of endometriosis. I have also conducted research on vaccine safety for several years, particularly HPV and COVID-19 vaccines. I originally trained as a biologist and hold a PhD in epidemiology.

Research

I use epidemiological methods to investigate the causes and consequences of disease, with a particular focus on women’s health. My current research focuses primarily on endometriosis, including its causes, diagnostic pathways, and consequences for health, working life, and healthcare use. I also conduct research on vaccine safety, particularly in relation to HPV and COVID-19 vaccines.

Teaching activities

I teach both basic and advanced epidemiology for bachelor and master’s students in Public Health Science. Through lectures, group teaching, and teamwork, my goal is to enhance the students' ability to critically assess the public health literature, while also teaching them how to select the most appropriate methods for their own studies. Additionally, I have contributed to the development of the textbook used in all our epidemiology courses at the department.

Job responsibilities

I lead a research group focusing on women’s health and epidemiology and teach and coordinate courses in Public Health. I am Programme Director of the PhD programme in Public Health and Co-Chair of the Women’s Health Network at Aarhus University. I also participate in several national and international research projects on women’s health and endometriosis.
