As a medical doctor, PhD and postdoc at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital, I work in urology and in developing medical devices for women with urinary incontinence. My main focus is turning clinical insight into new solutions, from idea and prototype to animal studies and clinical pilot trials. I hold a PhD in urology, trained as a biomedical designer (Novo Nordisk Foundation BioMedical Design Fellowship Programme) and am the founder of COBLER.
My research is in urology, with a particular focus on urinary incontinence in women. Through needs-driven biomedical design, animal studies and clinical pilot trials, I aim to develop COBLER, a device with an internal valve that sits in the urethra for up to 90 days with no external parts. My research helps women with urinary incontinence regain freedom and quality of life, and helps the healthcare system reduce care burden and costs.
My main area of responsibility is research and innovation in female urinary incontinence. This includes mapping the existing research in the field, generating knowledge through qualitative studies and using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), including in the WE CARE project. I also develop and test new medical devices, from design and animal studies to clinical pilot trials, and work with project management, fundraising and business development in the public healthcare sector.
