I am a public mental health researcher specialising in mechanism-focused evaluation of complex preventive interventions. My research is grounded in the Medical Research Council (MRC) framework and combines causal mechanism evaluation, implementation research, and pragmatic effectiveness studies to understand how interventions work, for whom, and under which real-world conditions.
I have a background as a registered nurse, hold a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), and a PhD. I have been an Associate Professor since 2017.
I have more than 15 years of experience in applied intervention research within health promotion and prevention. My methodological approach is guided by the research question and draws on both qualitative and quantitative methods, including pragmatic randomized controlled trials, longitudinal observational studies, and advanced statistical analyses to investigate intervention effectiveness, causal mechanisms, and implementation in real-world settings.
My research has been conducted across general practice, municipal health services, schools, and workplaces, with a particular focus on preventive mental health interventions, including mindfulness- and compassion-based approaches.
I have taught the course Basic Epidemiology in the Medicine program at Aarhus University. I have also co-developed and taught the course Complex Interventions in Public Health in the Master’s program in Public Health Science.
Since 2018, I have been responsible for the interdisciplinary elective Stress: Mental Health Promotion and Prevention with Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
I supervise Master’s and PhD students.
My main responsibility is research:
