As a postdoctoral researcher, I study the relationship between oral and systemic health, particularly diabetes and periodontitis. My background is in periodontology and epidemiology, with specialisations in periodontology and in public health (2018–2020). Since 2018, I have been involved in teaching, research and international collaborations.
My research examines the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases, especially diabetes. In collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, I conduct epidemiological studies based on Danish national registries and survey data, using causal inference methods. The aim is to identify risk factors and develop better strategies for preventing oral diseases in people living with diabetes, so the findings can be translated into clinical practice and public health strategies.
My main responsibility is teaching Periodontology at the bachelor's and candidate levels, and I also contribute to courses in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Alongside this, I supervise bachelor's and master's students and support educational management in these areas. On the research side, I contribute to the oral health component of the Health in Central Denmark cohort in collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus.
