My research focuses on improving access to evidence-based psychological interventions for children, adolescents, and families. I combine digital mental health and psychotherapy research with studies of mechanisms underlying symptoms, recovery, and treatment response. My work includes digital interventions for pediatric functional abdominal pain and compassion-focused support for parents, alongside research on interoception, autonomic functioning, and inflammatory processes.
My teaching is grounded in my clinical and research expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry, functional somatic disorders, psychotherapy, and digital psychological interventions. I teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and have particular experience in teaching physicians and other healthcare professionals.
I have extensive experience in supervising and mentoring physicians, psychologists, and students, as well as in developing and leading multidisciplinary postgraduate training programmes.
My collaborations span child and adolescent psychiatry, psychology, digital mental health, and functional somatic disorders. I collaborate with research groups in Denmark and internationally on developing and evaluating psychological and digital interventions for children, adolescents, and families. I also work with researchers across neuroscience and biomedical disciplines to investigate mechanisms underlying symptoms and disorders, including interoception, autonomic functioning, and inflammatory processes.
Through my clinical and research expertise in digital mental health, I contribute to the strategic development and implementation of digital solutions in mental health services. I am a member of the National Task Force for Digital Mental Health and Psychiatry and contribute to national and regional steering groups on digital psychological treatment, digital treatment platforms, and digital patient pathways. Through these roles, I provide clinical and research-based perspectives on the development, implementation, and integration of digital interventions in mental healthcare.
