As a postdoc, I work alongside a fantastic team to understand how the earliest responses to external stimuli arise in human brains. To this end, we use OPM-MEG to detect the smallest of magnetic signals from fetal brains that are detected in response to light, and sounds. Understanding the neural trajectory of how we come to understand the world around us remains an intriguing problem that has both scientific merit and clinical application.
My primary area of work is to use optically pumped magnetometer-magnetoencephalography (OPM-MEG) for measuring fetal brain responses, and analyzing the resulting data. When possible, I make fancy plots to show how brain oscillations orchestrate the many wonderful facets of cognition.
