Profile

I am an Associate Professor of Nursing Science in Clinical Public Health, Department of Public Health. My research is primarily focused on advancing qualitative research methodology, with particular expertise in content analysis and qualitative evidence synthesis. A central component of my research is the development and refinement of approaches to synthesising qualitative evidence, with the aim of strengthening translation and implementation of research findings in clinical practice. My research also addresses aspects of ADHD and depression.

Research

My research primarily employs qualitative methods, focusing on content analysis and meta-synthesis. A significant aspect of my research focuses on integrating results from qualitative and quantitative studies into clinical guidelines. This interdisciplinary approach aims to enhance the comprehensiveness and applicability of clinical recommendations, ensuring they reflect a holistic understanding of the available evidence.

Teaching activities

I teach at the Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Clinical Nursing, and PhD programs. I teach content analysis, qualitative evidence synthesis, and the development of clinical guidelines.

I am a member of the censor corps for Public Health and related programs.

Head of The Committee on duplicate text screening, Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University

Collaborations

Internationally, I collaborate with JBI at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, The University of Adelaide, South Australia, where I am a member of a methodology group dedicated to the further development of qualitative evidence synthesis as both a methodology and a method.

Nationally: CHANGESOMNIA, which investigates changes in sleep architecture and quality of life following a non-pharmacological sleep intervention in young adults with depression-related insomnia; led by Sanne Toft Kristiansen, PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Depression and Anxiety, Psykiatriens Hus, Aarhus University Hospital – Psychiatry.

Member of the Nordic GRADE Network and the Cochrane Collaboration.

Consultancy

I advise the Danish Health Authority on including qualitative evidence in clinical guidelines, ensuring that qualitative data are integrated into clinical decision-making processes. This enhances the comprehensiveness and applicability of guidelines, ultimately improving patient care outcomes.

Job responsibilities

My primary fields of work are research-based teaching, my research, and national and international research collaboration. I lead the courses: Qualitative Research and Methodology and Advanced Qualitative Methods.

I am head of the Committee on duplicate text screening, Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University.
