Research

As an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedicine at Aarhus University, I lead a research group investigating the function and role of endocytic membrane receptors in various types of cancer, including mesothelioma and melanoma. We are also working to develop new drugs for the treatment of patients with mesothelioma and metastatic melanoma.

Teaching activities

As Associate Professor in Biomedicine at Aarhus University, I teach medical biochemistry as part of the bachelor's programme in medicine. I conduct lectures, small-class teaching, and laboratory exercises.

I supervise PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, as well as research year students as well as students of the Research Honours Programme, within the fields of molecular medicine, molecular biology, and medicine.

I am a member of the external examiner corps of the medical education in Denmark.

Collaborations

I collaborate with Prof. Søren Moestrup, Biomedicine, AU and pathologist and Ass. Prof. Henrik Hager, AUH, to understand the role of specific membrane receptors in cancer. We aim to identify and characterize molecular targets and develop new drugs for the treatment of patients with mesothelioma and metastatic melanoma. I collaborate with plastic surgeon and Clinical Ass. Prof. Louise Bønnelykke-Behrndtz and oncologist and Clinical Ass. Prof. Henrik Schmidt, both AUH, on melanoma projects.
