Research

My research focuses on modelling bone diseases in ex vivo human tissues by integrating cutting-edge multi-omic technologies with conventional analytical approaches. My work aims to identify therapeutic targets and translate molecular insights into the development of dynamic 4D hydrogels for inflammation resolution and bone repair.

My current research at Aarhus University, Denmark (2025-present), is carried out within the EU Horizon Innovation Action project GreenNanoBone, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms and regenerative therapies for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) in cancer patients. In parallel, I am establishing an independent research line, where I aim to develop personalized bone regenerative therapies for peri-implantitis in patients with diabetes.

Previously, I held postdoctoral positions at the AO Research Institute in Davos, Switzerland (2020–2024), where I contributed to the development of multiaxial bioreactor system for modelling intervertebral disc degeneration within a Swiss National Science Foundation-funded project, and at the University of Zagreb, Croatia (2017–2020), where I investigated cartilage repair using nasal chondrocyte-engineered grafts in a large-animal preclinical study within an EU Horizon-funded project.

I hold a PhD in Biology (2013–2016) and an MSc in Bioindustrial Sciences (2012) from the University of Orléans, France, and an MEng in Molecular Biotechnology (2012) from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
