Ulla Kampmann is a specialist in endocrinology at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus (SDCA), Aarhus University Hospital, and an associate professor within diabetes and metabolism, pathogenesis and treatment in diabetes in pregnancy, at Aarhus University. She is head of the pregnancy and diabetes team at SDCA, and her research areas are diabetes and overweight before, during and after pregnancy, with a special focus on insulin resistance. She is PI on several clinical research projects.
I am research leader of the PADME (Pregnancy And Diabetes Metabolism Epidemiology) research group, which comprises more than 20 researchers at various career stages. I value a secure learning environment that prioritizes collaboration and knowledge sharing. I find great satisfaction in mentoring and developing early-career researchers, and I supervise PhD candidates, research-year students, and Master’s thesis students. I teach in diabtes at the medical and molecular medicine degree programs.
I collaborate with endocrinologists and obstetricians from Aarhus University Hospital, Aalborg University Hospital, SDCN, Odense University Hospital, SDCO, Rigshospitalet and SDCC on projects within diabetes and pregnancy, and I collaborate with researchers at Public Health, AU, NEXS, KU, and Hvidovre Hospital.
Internationally I collaborate with Prof. Patrick Catalano, Harvard, Prof. David McIntyre, Queensland University (QU), Prof.Carlos Salomon, QU, Prof. Helen Murphy, Cambridge, and more.
