My research interests are primarily within the structure-functional relationships of the P-type ATPases, often described as pumps. Membrane pumps research field covers the interplay between the smallest motors of cells and their cellular environment, as well as their interactions with other molecules in the cell. The pumps are vital for all cells, and even partial impairment of their function often leads to disease.
I teach and conduct examinations in cell biology and physiology courses, both are part of the medical degree program. For several years, I have also served as the course leader for "Human Physiology," and I am currently working on developing a more advanced course on physiological control mechanisms as part of the Molecular Medicine program.
I am a member of the external examiner corps for Biology and Agricultural Science in Denmark.
