Photovoltaic Solar Energy

ABOUT THE RESEARCH GROUP

The Photovoltaic Solar Energy group investigates future PV concepts and systems, as well as how to integrate them in large amounts into the energy system to mitigate climate change.

The main research lines are:

  • Design, modeling and characterization of novel concepts to increase the efficiency of solar photovoltaics.
  • Resource assessment and modeling of PV generation at system level and large scale.
  • Techno-economic analysis of energy systems decarbonization, including interconnections among countries, storage, and coupling the power system to heating, transport and industry.

Open positions and students projects

I’m always interested to speak to enthusiastic students looking for a thesis project or research experience. Send me an email (mvp@eng.au.dk) with your research interests.

Some example projects are given below. Other projects on similar topics can be discussed.

  • Large-scale energy models to investigate how to decarbonize the European energy system.
  • Impact of interannual variability on renewable energy systems
  • Design and characterization of solar photovoltaic panels to be used in agricultural lands (Agrivoltaics)
